Types of Water Heaters

Our team works on all types and brands of heaters. Some water heaters are more energy efficient than others and some are better suited for specific homes. Whether you need to simply fix or replace the version you have or would be interested in upgrading to a new style our team can walk you through the options to determine what works for your lifestyle and budget.

Conventional Storage Tank Water Heater

This is the most common type of water heater and what you most likely have in your home. With this type of water heater you have as much hot water as the tank will hold as it’s heated by either gas or electricity in the tank. Once you run out of hot water you need to wait for the tank of cold water to be heated up again. While no one wants to run out of hot water this is the most common and affordable option.

Tankless Water Heater

This is also referred to as an on-demand water heater. Its major advantage is that it can essentially provide an endless supply of hot water. Three teenage girls in the house who like long, hot showers? This may be what you are looking for. This option heats water quickly through super-heated coils that fill with water and heat it up instantly. Like a tank water heater, size matters and you want to be sure you are using a size appropriate for your family's water use.

Heat Pump Water Heater

This is a hybrid option that may save some bucks on your utility bill as uses heat in the air and ground to heat water. Heat from the ground or air is transferred to the water and uses electricity to move the heat. This high energy efficient option requires quite a bit of vertical space so not great for older basements where ceiling height may be lacking.

Solar Powered Water Heater

We don't see many of these in our area but if you already have solar panels in your home you can use them to heat water with the sun's energy. This option is best for warm, sunny areas so you don't have to regularly rely on a back-up system.
